Blockchain is a shared, immutable ledger for recording the history of transactions. It fosters a new generation of transactional applications that establish trust, accountability and transparency. IBM Blockchain has joined The Linux Foundation's Hyperledger Project to evolve and improve upon earlier forms of blockchain. Instead of having a blockchain that is reliant on the exchange of cryptocurrencies with anonymous users on a public network (e.g. Bitcoin), a blockchain for business provides a permissioned network, with known identities, without the need for cryptocurrencies.
ELBOW is a portable cassette player reduced to the core. In XXI century, the rise of cheap and convenient digital media has made all physical formats „outdated“. Still, the tactile intimacy of physical formats is dearly missed. That’s the reason behind the resurgence of vinyl, and also motivation behind ELBOW. ELBOW was conceived with burning passion by, and for, cassette tape lovers! ELBOW’s most prominent feature is the biaxial arm. It rotates in two directions – upward motion enables the insertion of a cassette, while sideways motion allows to manually switch playing direction. Playback is controlled by a single wheel – turning left from the initial position activates the motor and increases volume, turning in the opposite direction fast-forwards the cassette. The device has two connections: a standard 3.5mm audio plug, and a mini-USB port for charging and transferring audio to a computer. Also, an additional pin can be used to attach player to clothes and other objects, turning your cassette into a unique accessory. Take part in the imminent cassette tape revival - help our research by answering a few simple questions!

The OMA Ironic speaker is an open baffle type, cast from a special kind of iron, with no enclosure. The hypo eutectic gray iron (high graphite content) used in this speaker is employed in high technology applications such as photolithography machines for silicon chip production, where there can be no movement due to resonance or vibration. The complex form of the speaker derives from quadratic diffusers universally used in studio and broadcast applications. The unique form of the Ironic is impossible to cast using traditional pattern making methods. The molds are 3D printed in sand, and every mold is consumed/destroyed in the casting process. Every single Ironic thus requires a new, 3D printed mold to be made. This is an extremely expensive process...
Jonathan Weiss, born in New York City, studied International Relations and Political Philosophy at Princeton University, and Public International Law at London School of Economics. After years of travel Weiss changed direction and became a filmmaker. He produced and directed a full length feature adaptation of J.G. Ballard's infamous non narrative novel, The Atrocity Exhibition into a similarly non narrative film. After discovering Oswald's Mill in Eastern Pennsylvania, a vast restoration project, he embarked on a new direction for audio with OMA.
We looked for tiny, autonomous, easy to connect to, and 9 Degrees of Freedom IMU, but none of the available wireless motion sensors were affordable enough to really unlock creativity, so we built one. In a few points, here are the specs: - 9 DoF with on-board sensor fusion (more explanation below)
- Easy to connect with BLE: good for computer + smartphone + tablet connection possible (lower power than WiFi)
- Compact & autonomous: Embeds a CR2032 battery holder (available in any corner shops, gas stations…)
- Size of a coin cell battery!

Omega is an invention platform for the Internet of Things. It comes WiFi-enabled and supports most of the popular languages such as Python and Node.JS. Omega makes hardware prototyping as easy as creating and installing software apps. Since the Omega is so compact, it can be hard to work with. That's why we have designed the Dock that exposes commonly used interfaces, such as USB, power supply, RGB LED, push buttons and makes it easy to connect accessories to the Omega. Simply plug the Omega in and start hacking! ...
There’s more art on the Internet than in every gallery and museum on Earth.
But many of these beautiful objects are trapped. They’re trapped inside of devices like our phones, our tablets, our TVs, our laptops — devices designed for distraction, living between texts, tweets, football games and emails from work.
So we’re making a new way to bring art from the Internet into your home.

Build a piano out of vegetables or create a keyboard from foil. Connect anything conductive to Ototo using alligator clips and turn your touch into sound! Ototo is designed by Dentaku from our London studio. Ototo means 'little brother' in Japanese - so we think of it as a perfect pocket-sized companion. The concept was realised by Yuri Suzuki and Mark McKeague under commission from Near Now. In October 2013 we ran an invention workshop with the first prototype boards at Game City in Nottingham and announced the project to the public. Over the following months we ran public and student workshops testing out Ototo, getting feedback and refining our design. In February 2014, Dentaku ran a Kickstarter campaign to fund the first production project. The project was successfully funded, raising £73,589 from 915 backers. Now we sell Ototo to makers and creators all over the world who want to make their own musical dreams come true.

OpenDrop is a new design for an open source digital microfludics platform for research purposes. The device uses recent electro-wetting technology to control small droplets of liquids. Potential applications are lab on a chip devices for automating processes of digital biology. How ever the present design should also open the technology to other field and allow experimentation to find new applications. Including the field of art, music, games and education. The design approach chosen relies strongly on Do-It-Your-Self (DIY) and Low-Cost. To aim is to only use standard and widely-available components, materials, and production processes. We try to avoid parts that aren’t available to individual customers or processes that require expensive setup costs. Also all design files and software required to operate your hardware are shared under open licenses. We commit to Best Practices for Open-Source Hardware (OSHWA) We respect The {unspoken} rules of Open Source Hardware

You need a big sub-woofer for big bass, right? Wrong. After 10 years of research, French acoustic engineers as Devialet just unveiled a giant step forward in audio that’s just one foot long. The Phantom is a petite, spherical, all-in-one amplifier and speaker that delivers what audiophiles think may be the best sound in the world for around $2,000.
Of course, $2,000 is pretty steep, and that’s just for one of these things. But it’s about the same as a 5.1 stereo system from Sonos or a traditional set of hi-fi speakers, sub and amp.
The world's first true flying camera.
A new drone camera has been released that allows users to simply throw it in the air and have it follow them around. The drone is designed to allow people to be filmed without having someone do it for them. It looks to be positioned towards the same people who use Go Pros, mounting them to their head to film snowboarding and other extreme sports, but allows for them to feature in the video themselves.
To use the drone, users simply turn it on and throw it up into the air. From there, it will follow a special transmitter or go in pre-programmed routes.
The drone is waterproof and small, only weighing 2.8 lbs. ...
