The Belize Botanic Gardens is looking for 15 families to participate in their Backyard Gardens Project, which is a sustainable garden project. It's free. Check it out.

"We are looking for 15 families within our surrounding areas to participate in our Backyard Gardens Project. This project aims to alleviate the cost of living and for families to be self sustainable. BBG will provide a starter’s kit to each qualified family. Starter kit includes soil, installation of bed, training, some seeds and training manual. This is all FREE of cost.

The Belize Botanic Gardens are gearing up for another Professional Gardener's Training Program.  It will start on July 1st, and they are taking applications until June 12th.  If you are interested, you can email them at info@belizebotanic.org or give them a call at 834-4800.

Al Quaranto of Macaw Bank Jungle Lodge taught a Floral Design class at the Belize Botanic Gardens.  The goal is to train locals in marketable skills.  They had more than 40 people attend the event.  Thanks go out to the DuPlooy's, the BBG and Al for sponsoring this event.

The Belize Botanic Gardens are having their Par-Tea fundraiser on Sunday the 22nd.  Brew, beats, and treats is the theme.  They'll have drumming in their bamboo tunnel and guided tours of their tea trail.  The fun starts at 1pm.  Stop by the BBG shop at the market, or the BBG, to reserve your spot.
