Feelgood news of the day.  4 the World, along with many volunteers, repaired and painted the Calla Creek Community Center.  Looks great!  Thanks, 4 the World!

"The community center at Calla Creek Village has a new look with Quetzal Green paint thanks to our partner S.O.S volunteers from Canada and all the 4 the World volunteers from the village!"

Feelgood news of the day.  4 the World is helping to refurb the Calla Creek Community Center.  It was unusable, but soon it'll be nice again, and will be used for many village functions.  Thanks, 4 the World!

"Today 4 the World volunteers from Calla Creek Village along with the Village Chairman Saul Uck and 4 the World's Executive Director Robert Keith Froom started a project to refurbish the village's Community Center...  This project will continue throug the summer. And will provide a place for the school to use durring the day as classrooms by the end of August 2015.  The Community Center will provide shelter to the village during severe storms and will also house the NEMO early warning alarm system that warns the village of dangerous floods. "

A big thanks to 4 the World, who put together self defense training classes for kids, which took place in Calla Creek.  Looks like they had some fun, and learned some good techniques too.  They also had their Yoga Workshop at the Benque HoC.

"Self Defense Training for kids in Cayo was a lot of fun thanks to Katie Myers and crew. Our volunteers were eager to work with these great kids in Benque Viejo and Calla Creek Village."

Feelgood news of the day.  The 4 The World volunteer group that was just here, along with some help from the local villagers, painted the Calla Creek bus stop.  They did quite a bit during their week here, including fixing up the bridge there, and doing arts and crafts with the kids.  Thanks again, 4 The World! 

"The Bridge and bus stops are an important part of the Calla Creek community, providing a safe way for crossing the Mopan River and a protected location from the sun and rain for people to wait for buses and taxis.  The ESL program was open for children of all ages and was a fun way to improve language and communication skills.  Art and crafts as well as swimming, football and basketball were other activities that the team did with the children in the village and it was a fun way to finish each day.  The team also delivered books and school supplies for the village.  We are extremely grateful for our volunteers for all of their contributions!"

Feelgood news of the day.  4 The World had a Spring Break volunteer group in Cayo last week, and they went to Calla Creek and La Gracia to work with students and teachers on everything from computer training to reading to nutrition.  Thanks again, 4 The World, for helping out so much around Cayo.  See you soon.

"We did some great educational and fun programs for the kids at Calla Creek Village while educators did a special Professional Development Training for teachers.  It was so much fun while learning new things for all.  These programs are very useful for the teaching staff at the schools and the kids really enjoy our programs and the friendships created by our volunteers.  Swimming, climbing trees, playing football, basketball games, flying kites, making friendship bracelets and reading books after school made this day so much fun!"

Feelgood news of the day.  Duck Run was another village that 4 The World paid a visit to on their medical mission around Cayo.  This week they did clinics in Calla Creek, La Gracia, and Santa Familia.  Thanks again, 4 The World!

"We can't say enough good things about the OUHSC Team as they have done an amazing job helping so many people all over the Cayo District of Belize.  Today's medical clinic was planned and set-up by two special 4 The World volunteers who several years ago were the first recipients of 4 The World scholarships to go to high school.  Rigzy and Edlin did a fantastic job planning & setting up the clinic for their village!"

Feelgood news of the day.  4 the World has finished the basketball court at Calla Creek primary school.  Thanks for all your hard work over the years, 4 the World.

"We finished up the baskeball court last week in Calla Creek and put basketballs at the tienda that any kids in the village can use whenever they want to play."

Feelgood news of the day.  4 the World is helping out, big time, with the Calla Creek Community Center. That's some serious work they have going on.  It's great to see the community come together for a great cause.  Thanks, 4 the World!

"Our Belize volunteers along with volunteers from our partner S.O.S.( Students Offering Support) unload lumber to carry across the swinging bridge for the community center project in Calla Creek Village.  Next we will take rock, cement, sand and everything else we need across the bridge to the project site."

Feelgood video of the day.  The US Navy Band on the USNS Comfort played at Calla Creek's Holy Cross primary school on Monday.  Great job playing those trumpets!  They also brought some much appreciated school supplies.  A big round of thanks to the US Navy! 

"Today Holy Cross RCSchool was visited by this US navy group. It was awesome.  They left a small gift for each student.(school bags, notebooks , pencils,erasers,sharpeners,scissors,pens, two small towels ,toothpaste nd toothbrush,soap,deodorant,shampoo,nail clipper,).  Thanks US navy!!!!"

Feelgood news of the day.  4 the World distributed books to the children at Calla Creek primary school.  Look at all those happy faces.  Reading is the key.  Thanks, 4 the World, for all you do for the children in Calla Creek!

"4 the World volunteers handed out free books to all the kids and teachers in the village.  It was a really fun to see how happy the kids were when they were able to choose any book that they wanted.  Many of our volunteers played games and read books with the kids.  The books for this program were all collected or donated from the US and the books were covered with contact paper to make them last longer.  Thanks to everyone who donated books to 4 the World and made this day possible."

Feelgood news of the day.  4 The World Belize, which does a lot of volunteer work in Calla Creek, fixed up the bridge so the kids can safely cross.  Thanks, 4 The World!

"Today we replaced the missing boards on the swinging bridge in Calla Creek Village.  Now all the kids can safely cross the bridge.  Just in time for school to start next week.  Many people use the bridge daily ."

Feelgood news of the day.  4 The World, which does a lot of volunteer work in Calla Creek, is back in Cayo for Spring Break, and they took some local youths to Xunantunich for a fun day of hiking and sightseeing.

"On our first day in Belize we took kids on a field trip to see the ancient Mayan City Xunantunich.  It was hard to tell who had the most fun the kids or the NC State team.  Either way it was an amazing way to start our Spring Break in Belize."

Feelgood news of the day.  4 the World has teamed up with the University of Oklahoma to bring doctors and medical students to Calla Creek and provide medical care this week.  Looks like they'll be helping a lot of people.  Thanks, 4 the World!
