The Purple Movement had their one year anniversary last night at the Cayo Welcome Center.
"This vigil is in remembrance of Suzenne 'Purple' Martinez who was murdered heartlessly one year ago. It is also our intention to make it a solemn evening dedicated in remembrance and honour for other murder victims (special mention Jasmine Lowe) along with all other families who are suffering silently due to criminal injustices."

The Purple Movement, as part of their Heart Connection Tour, is having a tribute to Bob Marley at Falcon Field tomorrow evening. There will be live music, food, drinks, games, and a 5 on 5 football marathon.

The Purple Movement videos from their general meeting at the Red Cross building a few weeks back. The Belizean Minds website, which is hosting the videos, is a thought provoking website too.
"To be honest, my perception is that the group is still in the process of taking shape and identifying it's most strategic goal. But one thing is certain, they want to do their best to make a positive change. I am of the opinion that the community is strongly discontented with the prevalent crime and that we as young people need to be that voice for the masses, and reinforce the idea that we deserve better."

The Purple Movement will have a candlelight vigil and walk at the Cayo Welcome Center Wednesday evening. Please go out and show your support for their cause.
"We ask that everyone who attends bring their own candles and also wear purple and/or purple ribbon in solidarity of the cause. Feel free to bring along banners of your organization or any other memorabilia from other murder victims of criminal injustice.

The Purple Movement will be collaborating with Youth for the Future, and they'll be having a youth rally and parade to celebrate the end of Youth Week. Saturday, starting at 10:00am at Macal River Park, they'll have the parade through the streets of Cayo, and then the rally afterwards. Go Purple!

The Purple Movement has pictures from their BBQ and bake sale they did at Cayo's Saturday market. Talk about a fun time! Lots of music, BBQ, pastries, and smiling faces.

"The Purple Movement will be holding its first fundraising event by doing a Barbeque and pastry sale at the local market square. This is one of many fundraising events that will be hosted to raise funds for the planning and construction of a Forensic laboratory in San Ignacio as proposed to the Government of Belize. If you would like to contribute to the fundraiser. Feel free to take any baked goods or small monetary donation and drop it off at the market at The Purple Movement tent."

“Thousands of people from virtually all over the nation converged on the Columbus Park in San Ignacio Town for a massive demonstration. Simultaneous with the demonstration was a voluntary twelve hour business shut down of the twin towns starting at 7am. The majority of establishments closed their doors as a show of support for the people of San Ignacio and Santa Elena who are clamoring for justice for murder victims and for something to be done to address the growing crime situation.”

The Purple Movement has a FB page you can like. Everyone can show their solidarity with the family and friends of Suzenne Purple Martinez. Come out to the peacefull demonstration tomorrow in Columbus Park. Cayo will be shut down tomorrow, and the Ignite the Peace Initiative will be happening from 8:00am until 1:00pm, with an all day peace rally.
