Yochi, the movie filmed with Belizean actors around the Cayo district, was selected for a Oscar qualifying theatrical run.  Daniel Velazquez, a Cayo filmographer helped with the movie, and pointed out that this was a first for a Belizean made film.  Yochi is about a young boy who finds and cares for wild parrots, and tries to stop his brother from poaching them.  Well worth a watch.

Yochi was screened last night at the Cayo Welcome Center to kick off the Belize International Film Festival.  Daniel Velazquez did the behind the scenes video.  It's worth a watch, and it was all filmed in Cayo, of course.

Yochi, which was filmed here in Cayo, will premier at the Belize International Film Festival.  It's getting great reviews, and is getting noticed.

Yochi won at the Belize International Film Festival for Best Short Film.  They are doing a screening tour, and will be at the Cayo Welcome Center on Thursday, November 17th, at 7:00pm.  It'll be shown on Wednesday at the Belmopan library at noon.

The BIFF has released a promo video highlighting some of the movies that will be screened.  The 2 Belizean films highlighted are Yochi, and Pillaging of the Chiquibul.  It starts on Thursday, November 10th.

The trailer for Yochi is out.  Yochi is a short film shot totally in Cayo.  It's about 2 Maya brothers, and poaching.  Great story.
