Extreme weather that battered parts of the Midwest and caused death and destruction over the weekend turned to Texas overnight and will move into the lower Mississippi Valley on Monday, bringing the risk of storms and flash flooding.

Severe weather has been occurring in parts of the Midwest. Heavy rainfall has been reported to have caused flash flooding in Texas. A thunderstorm and hail have been reported in Oklahoma and Nebraska. A tornado warning has been issued in several states including Nebraska, Iowa, Missouri, Kansas, and South Dakota.

An emergency tornado declaration was stated in Nelson County, Kentucky in response to an EF-1 tornado. This was confirmed by damage surveyors from the National Weather Service.
