Startuppers Night is back for the 4th time. What is the aim of this event?

The aim of Startuppers Night is to bring together the players of Luxembourg’s startup ecosystem in order to enjoy a festive and relaxed evening and discover the latest technological innovations. Organized in tandem with Technoport, this event has become the essential annual event for innovative companies and startups in Luxembourg.

What will be the highlight of this evening?
Robots will be honoured in this edition. In addition to meeting amazing machines during the evening, Startuppers Night will host Luxembourg’s first robotics competition: “Luxembourg Robotics Competition”. Guests will also be able to discover and test the latest technological innovations of several startups present. In addition, many geeky and fun activities await guests, who can enjoy a great Escape game, arcade terminals, virtual reality games, cosplayers and more.

Max Arendt, élève du Lycée de Garçons de Luxembourg, a gagné la médaille d’or au concours scientifique CASTIC en Chine avec son projet en ingénierie.

Depuis 2012, la Fondation Jeunes Scientifiques Luxembourg (FJSL) envoie chaque année un des lauréats de son concours national Jonk Fuerscher au concours CASTIC (China Adolescents Science and Technology Innovation Contest).

Le projet du luxembourgeois
Cette année, Max Arendt a pu participer au concours avec son projet R.A.M. – A robot that could change the world.

R.A.M. (lat. : Rimor, Adjutor, Medicus / fr.: explorateur, assistant, médecin) est un robot humanoïde, piloté par une personne portant un « transmetteur de mouvements » permettant de contrôler le robot à une très grande distance.

Le jeune luxembourgeois a travaillé durant 3 années sur son projet avant d’arriver à construire son 1er prototype (deux mains et bras) avec l’aide d’une imprimante 3D. Il poursuivra ce projet jusqu’à arriver à un robot complet et fonctionnel.

Son projet a convaincu le jury du CASTIC et Max a remporté une médaille d’or bien méritée.

A Luxembourg student has won a gold medal for his project to construct a humanoid robot whose movements are piloted by a human.

Max Arendt, 21, was the winner of this year’s “Jonk Fuerscher”, or young scientist Luxembourg award, for “Ram, a robot that could change the world”, a  prototype composed of two hands and arms, which he made using a 3D printer. Having already worked on the project for three years, the student of the Lycée de Garçons in Luxembourg says he plans to continue until he has built a complete robot.

He was awarded a gold medal while representing Luxembourg at the China Adolescents Science and Technology Innovation Contest (Castic), in Chongqing, China. Also at the contest, the Fondation Jeunes Scientifique Luxembourg signed an agreement formalising the national “Jonk Fuerscher”  award and making participation at the Expo-Sciences Luxembourg an official award in the Chinese national contest.

Les robots envahissent le BTP

«Comment la technologie peut-elle réduire la pénibilité?», Ludovic Desgrée, cofondateur de Mexence, propose une solution innovante: un robot-peintre.

Mexence (prononcez «makes sense») est une start-up créée en 2015 et installée à Luxembourg, qui ambitionne de réduire la pénibilité du travail dans le secteur de la construction et du bâtiment grâce à la robotique.

À l’occasion du lancement du premier produit de la jeune pousse, pBot, le robot-peintre, Ludovic Desgrées, son cofondateur, revient sur le parcours et les projets de Mexence. 

Comment est née l’idée de Mexence?

«Comment la technologie peut-elle réduire la pénibilité? En 2015, j’ai posé cette question à un patron d’entreprise de peinture en bâtiment, dont le métier n’avait pas évolué depuis les années 80. Le secteur du bâtiment est celui où la pénibilité est la plus importante. Dès lors, le développement d’un robot-peintre prenait tout son sens. ‘Make sense’ était née. Nous entamons la commercialisation de pBot, notre robot-peintre. Il sera prochainement rejoint par pDrone, un drone-peintre capable d’accéder à de grandes hauteurs, un robot de préparation pour l’enduit, et enfin un robot de décoration pour la peinture personnalisée, tous trois en cours de développement.
