In the first instalment of his brand-new series, Nik Peachey looks at podcasting and how it can be used to help students develop their listening and speaking skills both inside and outside the classroom. Nik provides a comprehensive overview article on podcasting, a downloadable lesson plan, a video screencast tutorial and a printable how-to guide.
This link provides a valuable resource for helping students improve their listening and speaking skills. It refers to using the digital technology of podcasting and includes lesson plans and tutorials of how to best use podcasting to benefit students skills. Many of the areas found within the Digital Technologies curriculum (ACARA, 2013) include literacy as a general capability and therefore, this resource would allow students to develop safe digital technology practices as well as improve their digital literacy skills.
