About the essayist: Adania Shibli was born in Palestine in 1974. She is a writer of novels, plays, short stories, and narrative essays, and her most recent book is Minor Detail, which was short-listed for the National Book Award in 2020 and in 2021 was nominated for the International Booker Prize.
